The Rhythm Inc Bass Department is run by Dave. who has been a professional musician and tutor for 7 years and has toured extensively in the UK and Europe. He is currently involved in many musical projects including SUPERfreak, Jo Webb & The Dirty Hands and Magic Blanket (see links page to hear these bands). He has a BA (hons) in Popular Music Studies from Sheffield University and first started teaching while a degree
student. With a very broad musical experience, this friendly and
enthusiastic tutor teaches students from beginner, all the way up to professional standard and across a broad range of styles.
Dave says,
“The Bass Guitar is something of an unknown quantity to those who don’t really understand its application. Everybody has seen a guitarist throw rock shapes and dazzle us with a heroic solo, the singer strutting and hogging the limelight, the drummer pounding seven shades of hell out of those poor drums! But the often-overlooked bass guitar is a deceptively capable beast, with a broad palate of sounds and applications. Modern Bass heroes range from Mark King of Level 42 to Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and beyond.”
